Many of your Swedish customers have a wellness allowance. Give them the receipt.

Switch the receipt on for an offer and describe the activity. Checkout tells the buyer the offer can be paid with friskvårdsbidrag, and after the purchase the receipt arrives by email and can be downloaded as a PDF.

What employers ask for

Illustrative workflow. No real customer data.

Here is what you can do.

Switch on a friskvårdsbidrag receipt for an offer. Your Swedish buyers get a receipt with your organisation number, the activity and the VAT to hand to their employer.

One switch per offer

Turn the receipt on and describe the activity in your own words, for example Hatha yoga, 8 live classes online.

Visible at checkout

The buyer sees before paying that she will get a receipt to hand to her employer.

What employers ask for

Your company name, organisation number, VAT number and address, the participant's name, the activity, the net amount, the VAT and the total.

Locked when issued

The details are saved on the order. If you later edit the offer or your company details, the receipt stays as it was issued.

Why the receipt matters

Friskvårdsbidrag is a common Swedish employee benefit: the employer reimburses sport and wellness activities. The Swedish Tax Agency’s limit is SEK 5,000 per employee and year, including VAT, and the employer pays it out against a receipt. For someone weighing up your yoga course or your stress management programme, “can I use my wellness allowance?” can be the deciding question.

When the answer is already at checkout and the receipt arrives on its own, she does not need to email you and you do not need to put a receipt together by hand.

How you switch it on

  1. Open the offer and switch on Wellness allowance receipt under Advanced.
  2. Add your company details right there if they are missing: company name and organisation number, plus your VAT number if you have one. The number is checked as you type, and the details are saved together with the offer.
  3. Describe the activity. Pick a suggestion such as Yoga, Qigong or Stress management information and add the number of sessions or the period: “Yoga – Softer mornings, 8 classes” says more than “well-being”.
  4. Save. From the next purchase, checkout says the offer can be paid with friskvårdsbidrag and that the buyer gets a receipt to hand to her employer.

Only the offers you switch it on for carry the receipt. Everything else you sell gets the normal receipt.

What the buyer gets

After the purchase, the receipt email becomes a Kvitto för friskvårdsbidrag. It shows the seller (name, organisation number, VAT number and address), the participant’s name, the activity you described, the net amount, the VAT and the total. One button in the email opens the receipt as a PDF without logging in, ready for the payroll office or the employer’s benefits portal.

If she loses it, you resend the receipt with one click from the order in Studio, or download it yourself.

The details are locked on the order when the receipt is issued, so an issued receipt never changes afterwards.

What the Swedish Tax Agency says

  • The employer decides. The employer must be able to show that the conditions for tax exemption are met, so the employer decides what is reimbursed. Neither you nor Idun can promise that an activity will be accepted.
  • Several activities are named. Among them yoga (including pregnancy yoga), tai chi, qigong, information on stress management, dietary advice, gymnastics and dance.
  • Online training can count. In 2020 the Tax Agency found that training through an internet service can be covered by the allowance.
  • The cap is SEK 5,000 a year, including VAT, reimbursed against a receipt.

Read more in the Tax Agency’s legal guidance on exercise and wellness (in Swedish).

Breathwork, meditation and mindfulness

Be careful here. Breathwork, meditation and mindfulness are not among the activities the Tax Agency names, and in April 2026 the Supreme Administrative Court ruled (case 7067-25) that general well-being is not enough.

That does not mean no employer will reimburse it. It means it depends on the employer. Describe the activity as concretely as it really is, and say on your sales page that buyers should check with their employer before counting on the allowance.

You set the VAT

The VAT depends on what you sell. Training streamed live carries 6% Swedish VAT, recorded classes 25%. Yoga focused on relaxation and meditation is also 25% according to the Supreme Administrative Court (HFD 2025 ref. 22).

Idun does not pick the VAT rate from the activity. You set the VAT on the offer, and the receipt shows the VAT that was charged. If you are unsure, ask your accountant before switching the receipt on.
