The Verdict
Teachable's Starter plan costs $39/mo, takes 7.5% of every sale and holds 5 products, 1 admin user and 100 active students. Built-in email marketing needs Builder at $89/mo, and the public API, Zapier and webhooks need Growth at $189/mo. Idun Blue has one price for the whole platform: courses, community, website, email, automations, bookings and Instagram planning are included, and you switch on podcast, events and invoices when you need them. Idun AI works directly in your workspace, and you can connect your own ChatGPT or Claude. Payments go to your own Stripe account with no platform fee. Teachable's figures come from its pricing page on 20 August 2026.
Teachable pricing and plans last checked Aug 20, 2026 against Teachable's own pages. The 7.5% sales fee applies to Starter only. Builder, Growth and Custom are 0%. The student caps are soft. Teachable states that the cap is removed once you reach $10k USD/year in sales. The public API, OAuth, Zapier and webhooks are on Growth and Custom, not on all plans. Community, campaigns, bookings, podcast hosting and social publishing are not stated in Teachable's pricing comparison. We therefore make no claim about them either way. Idun Blue features marked partial are off by default and are switched on in Settings → Features.

The short version
Teachable is built to sell courses. Every plan includes courses, memberships, drip content, certificates, coupons, upsells and order bumps, abandoned-cart emails, bundles, Teachable Payments, tax handling and student apps for iOS and Android. The rest depends on the plan: built-in email marketing starts on Builder at $89/mo, and the public API, OAuth, Zapier and webhooks sit on Growth at $189/mo and Custom. Every plan has caps on products, admin users and active students.
Idun Blue has one price for the whole platform. Courses, community, website and pages, email and automations, bookings, Instagram planning and link in bio are included from the start. Podcast, events and webinars, coaching, invoices, physical products and course certificates are switched on under Settings → Features. Idun AI works in what you already have: your lessons, offers, pages and emails. Studio is available in Swedish and English, and the platform runs on servers in the EU.
Pricing
The figures below come from Teachable’s own pricing page and were checked on 20 August 2026. Prices change, so always check teachable.com/pricing.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Sales fee | Products | Admin users | Active students |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $39 | $29 | 7.5% | 5 | 1 | 100 |
| Builder | $89 | $69 | 0% | 10 | 1 | 1,000 |
| Growth | $189 | $139 | 0% | 50 | 5 | 5,000 |
| Custom | Contact sales | — | 0% | — | — | — |
The student caps are soft: Teachable states that the cap is removed once you reach $10k USD/year in sales. Imported students are 5 / 50 / 1,000 and video storage goes up to 1 TB.
Processing fees are the same on every plan: cards at 2.9% + 30¢ in the US and 3.9% + 30¢ internationally, PayPal at 3.49% + 49¢ in the US and 4.99% + 49¢ internationally, and $15 per chargeback. On top of that, Teachable takes 7.5% of sales on Starter. From Builder upwards that fee is 0%. There is no free plan; the pricing page states a 7-day free trial and a 30-day guarantee. For larger operations there is an enterprise tab with Core at $6,000/yr and Pro at $12,000/yr.
Idun Blue is free during the beta and then costs SEK 1,000 a month excl. VAT, for the whole platform. No plan unlocks features, and we take a 0% platform fee: payments go to your own Stripe account and you pay only Stripe’s fees. Teachable bills in dollars and Idun Blue in kronor, so compare the converted price on the day you choose. Both quote prices before tax.
Where the platforms differ
What each sale costs
On Teachable’s Starter plan, 7.5% of sales goes to Teachable on top of processing fees. Sell SEK 20,000 a month and that is SEK 1,500. From Builder the fee disappears, but the base price is then $89/mo. Idun Blue takes 0% from the first krona, and the money goes straight to your own Stripe account.
We connect Stripe together with you during onboarding. Before the connection is done you can publish free offers. With invoicing switched on, an offer can also be bought on invoice: the buyer sends a request, you approve it, Idun sends the invoice and access opens when you mark the order as paid.
Caps and what is included
Teachable caps products, admin users and active students per plan. More than 5 products or 100 active students means Builder, and more than one admin user means Growth. With Idun Blue you pay one price and switch on what you need per workspace in Settings → Features.
Email and automations
Email marketing is included in Teachable from Builder. In Idun Blue, email is always on and automations are on from the start. A broadcast or a flow can start from what someone bought, how far she has come in a course or which tag she has, because purchases and the mailing list live in the same system.
More than a course platform
In Idun Blue your community, podcast, website, Instagram and mailing list sit in the same workspace as your courses. A course can have its own community room that buyers are added to automatically. The podcast gets a real RSS feed, and premium episodes can be locked to a product. You build the website from a complete design family, and Instagram posts are planned and scheduled from Studio through a connected professional account. Teachable’s pricing comparison does not cover community, bookings, podcast or social media, so we say nothing about them.
AI that does the work
Idun AI is included and works with what is in your workspace. Ask it to turn your notes into a course outline, shorten a sales page or write a welcome sequence. The result is saved as a draft in Studio, and you decide what gets published or sent. If you would rather use your own ChatGPT or Claude, connect it through Studio for Mac or as an MCP client.
Apps and API
Teachable has student apps for iOS and Android on every plan, under Teachable’s name. With Idun Blue, members use the Idun Blue app for iPhone and iPad, or the web app in the browser on your own domain. An app under your own brand is not included. Teachable’s public API, OAuth, Zapier and webhooks need Growth or Custom. Idun Blue has a public HTTP API from the start in every workspace.
