The page builder

Edit copy, typography, media and sections directly on the page, experiment in a private working draft and publish when you are ready.

Updated October 2026

You build pages under Website → Pages. A new page normally begins with a complete page template. Its typography, image areas, rhythm and mobile layout are already composed; you replace the content and shape the story with large, finished sections.

You never need to write code. Idun AI works with the same editable text, image, offer and course fields you see in Studio — not hidden HTML.

Create the website

A workspace has one website. If you don’t have one yet, begin under Website with a complete website kit. It contains several considered pages in one visual system — such as home, offer, about, contact and policy — plus a shared header and footer.

  1. Go to Website and click Create website.
  2. Choose a style — it gives the website its pages, menu, footer and colours from the start — and name the website.
  3. Idun creates the entire website as a private draft. Nothing is published automatically.
  4. Open the pages and populate them with your material. Keep the complete structure, remove pages you do not need or add more complete page templates.
  5. Edit the shared header or footer once; the change appears across every page in the website.

Idun AI can perform the same workflow: choose a website kit, create every draft, fill text and images, connect real offers, then leave the complete website for your review. Ask Idun AI to “build a website” when you want the whole structure, and to “build a page” when you only need one landing page.

Create a page

  1. Go to Website → Pages and click New page.
  2. Choose the page type and then a complete page template. Its preview uses the real Idun renderer, not an approximate thumbnail.
  3. Click Use this complete page. Idun creates a private draft with every section from the template.
  4. Open Page settings in the builder to give the page its own name and a clear URL.
  5. Replace the words, images and connections. Then remove, move or add sections if the page needs a different story.

New pages use this section-based editor. A page begins as a private draft and stays there until you publish it.

Edit directly on the page

The page is the editor. What you see in the centre is exactly what the visitor receives.

  • Click visible text and type or format it where it appears.
  • Click an image, background image or video to replace it. A video can also have its own poster image.
  • Click a section to show its floating tools. Open content or design, move, duplicate, hide or remove the section there.
  • Hover a section and drag the dotted handle on its left to place it where you want it. The blue line shows exactly where it will land. With a keyboard, pick it up with Space, move with the arrow keys and drop with Space; Escape cancels.
  • Drag the blue handles at the top and bottom of a section to change its spacing visually.
  • Open Design for exact spacing, colour and text alignment.
  • Switch between Desktop, Tablet and Mobile. Mobile can have its own image, crop and spacing.

The Overview button opens navigation without taking you out of the editor. This page shows sections in visitor order, lets you drag them by their handles, restore a hidden section and insert a new one in the right place. The same drag handle works with a keyboard. Header, page content and footer always stay in their own areas, so a move cannot accidentally turn a header into ordinary page content. Whole site shows the site’s other pages, the page you are editing, their public addresses and status. From there you can open the next page, create one or go to site settings. The collapsible content and design panel holds additional choices; ordinary edits do not require working through forms.

Write and format text where it appears

Click a heading or body text to start typing. A compact formatting bar appears beside it with font, size, colour, bold, italic, underline and alignment. Line height and letter spacing sit under More text settings.

  • Select one or more words before choosing a font, size, colour, bold, italic or underline. Only the selected text changes. The Selected text badge confirms that the range is active.
  • With no selection, the whole text field changes at the preview size you are using.
  • Desktop is the base style. Tablet and Mobile inherit it until you make an override there. A badge such as Mobile · inherits tells you when that is happening.
  • Formatting on selected words belongs to the copy itself and follows it across screen sizes. Alignment, line height and letter spacing apply to the whole field, so they are disabled while words are selected.
  • Reset removes the custom formatting from the selection or the current screen size.

Experiment safely and save when you want

Autosave starts on and can be turned off with the checkbox in the header. While it is on, changes are written to a private working draft as you go. Saving alone never changes the live page.

With autosave off, experiments stay in the current tab until you press Save. Save writes the working draft but does not publish it. Only Publish or Publish changes makes that draft visible to visitors.

To start over, choose Reset to live on a published page or Discard draft on an unpublished one. The builder asks for confirmation before removing what you tried. The header always shows Saved, Saving…, Unsaved changes or Could not save.

Undo and redo local or shared edits with the header buttons or ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z and ⇧⌘Z / Ctrl+Y. ⌘S / Ctrl+S saves immediately. You can also select a section in the preview; the builder keeps your scroll position when the page redraws.

What you can edit

A section may contain different field types:

  • headlines, leads and body copy,
  • images and background images with alt text and focal point,
  • videos with an optional poster image,
  • a separate mobile image or crop,
  • a dark image overlay and gentle parallax on larger screens,
  • a focal point selected directly on the image preview,
  • spacing above and below content, separately for desktop and mobile,
  • the section background colour and text alignment,
  • buttons and links,
  • lists, facts, steps and questions,
  • native Idun forms,
  • offers, courses and approved reviews.

When a section is connected to an offer or course, the page reads current information from Idun. Do not retype price, currency, checkout or course data as ordinary copy. When the Idun record changes, the page follows it.

Reshape the page with finished sections

Click a section on the page or open Sections. You can:

  • move it up or down,
  • duplicate it,
  • hide it without deleting it,
  • remove it,
  • choose Swap for another section…,
  • use the + between two sections to insert a new finished section exactly where it belongs,
  • or choose Add in the sections list and search the catalogue.

During a swap, Idun keeps text, links and images whose fields have the same meaning and type in the new section. Still check the result in both desktop and mobile views.

Save and reuse a section

Choose Save or share section… after making a section you want to use again.

Reusable copy

Every insertion is independent. A later edit affects only the page you are working on.

Shared section

Every placement is linked. Editing a shared footer, introduction or signup section updates it everywhere it is used. The builder shows how many pages use it.

A shared section has History, so you can restore an earlier version. Before its fields open, you explicitly choose Edit every placement or Detach for this page. That prevents a local correction from becoming global by accident.

In the section library you can also rename, archive and restore saved sections. Archiving a shared section does not remove it from pages where it is already used.

Page settings and SEO

Open Page settings to edit the page name, URL and search information. It includes search title, meta description, social image, canonical address and noindex, plus a search-result preview. The page also has revision history for larger rollbacks.

If the website was created from a complete website kit, its settings show the template status. A new kit version is never installed silently. When you choose Update template, existing sections receive the new reviewed layout while your copy, images, custom sections and previous revisions remain intact.

Let Idun AI populate the page

Ask Idun AI to build a page and describe its goal, audience, offer and which material may be used. Idun AI should then:

  1. choose from complete page templates,
  2. create a draft,
  3. read the template’s editable fields,
  4. fill them with your copy and images,
  5. connect real Idun offers and courses instead of hardcoding price or checkout,
  6. read the result back and check it.

Idun AI must not invent testimonials, numbers, credentials, product facts or promises. Publishing is a separate step that you confirm.

From your phone

The full builder needs a larger screen. On a phone, the quick editor opens with the real page as its editing surface. There you can:

  • write and format text, including selected words,
  • replace and crop images and choose a video and poster image,
  • change buttons and links,
  • add, move, duplicate, hide, restore and remove sections,
  • adjust section spacing for mobile,
  • save a private draft, discard it, publish or take the page offline,
  • copy and open the public link.

The quick editor does not autosave: Save changes appears as soon as something changes. It edits mobile typography and spacing; open the full builder on a computer for Desktop and Tablet. Lists, forms and product connections also remain in the desktop builder.

A shared section shows how many pages use it; before publishing such an edit you confirm that every placement should update.

Publish and check

Always preview both Desktop and Mobile. If the page sells something, make sure the offer is published, has the right price and grants the right product or course before sending traffic to it.

Clicking Publish or Publish changes first opens Review changes. A short list on the left explains what actually changed: page settings, order and affected sections. Several keystrokes in one text field are grouped into one human-sized change instead of appearing character by character. Shared sections are clearly marked because publishing them may affect more pages.

If the page is already published, switch between Live and Working draft in the same preview area. There is no live page before the first publication, so you review the working draft on its own. You can also compare Desktop, Tablet and Mobile; your scroll position follows when you switch. Click a changed section in the list to jump to it in both versions. Only choose Publish after review when the comparison looks right. You can open the same comparison at any time through Review changes in the page menu without publishing.

The publication check tells you when a required offer, course or review connection is missing. Connect the highlighted section and try again; an unfinished dynamic field may remain in a draft but cannot go live.

Once published, the page lives at yourworkspace.idun.blue/page-slug or on your own domain, for example yoursite.com/page-slug. See Connect a custom domain.

You can take the page offline again without deleting it.
