Coupons and discounts

Create a discount code, limit it by time and count, attach it to an offer — and see how often it's been used.

Updated October 2026

A coupon code takes an amount or a percentage off at checkout. You’ll find them under Offers → Coupons.

Create a code

  1. Go to Offers → Coupons and click New coupon.
  2. Fill in:
    • Code — what the buyer types. For example SUMMER2026.
    • Discount type — Percentage or Fixed amount.
    • Discount value — 20 for twenty percent, or the amount in whole units.
    • Max uses — how many times the code may be used in total. Leave it empty for unlimited.
    • Valid from and Valid until — the window the code works in. Both are optional.
    • Attached offer — All offers, or a single specific one.
  3. Click Create coupon.

Percentages must be between 1 and 100, and the end date has to come after the start date — otherwise Idun Blue tells you rather than saving a code that’s expired the second it’s created.

How the buyer uses it

The checkout has a field labelled Coupon code and an Apply button. She types the code, clicks, and the total updates immediately. If the code is wrong or expired she’s told right there.

The code has to be typed in — there’s no link that fills it in for her. So write it clearly in the email or on the page: “Use the code SUMMER2026 at checkout.”

Read the list

The coupon overview shows three numbers at the top: Total coupons, Active and Total redemptions.

Each code in the list shows its status:

  • Active — working right now.
  • Expired — the end date has passed.
  • Used up — the maximum number of uses has been reached.

Edit or delete

Click a code to edit it — the value, the window, the count and which offer it applies to.

Delete coupon removes it permanently. If you only want to stop it without losing the trail, set the end date to today instead.

What coupons don’t do

So you don’t go hunting for something that isn’t there:

  • There’s no per-customer limit. Set a sensible total instead.
  • There’s no minimum order amount.
  • A code attaches to one offer or to all of them — not to a hand-picked group.

Tips

  • Short codes. VIP20 can be said out loud on a podcast; SPECIAL-OFFER-MARCH-2026 can’t.
  • Always set either an end date or a maximum count. A code with no limit lives on in screenshots for years.
  • Test the code on a real purchase before you share it. Check that the right amount comes off.
  • Discount sparingly. Give a discount every month and your audience learns never to buy at full price.
