Choose the format for the job, not by habit.
JPG is a practical choice for photographs and does not support transparency. PNG preserves transparency and sharp graphic edges but can be larger. WebP often produces smaller photographic files in modern browsers. If you convert transparency to JPG, the selected background colour is placed behind the image.
