Privacy Policy for the Idun apps for Mac and iPhone
Last updated: October 17, 2026
This policy covers the Mac apps IdunVoice, IdunPod and IdunWave and the apps IdunDesign and IdunCut for Mac and iPhone, both the versions from the App Store and the versions downloaded from Idun Blue. What happens inside the Idun Blue platform itself, for example in a workspace you publish to, is covered by the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
1. Who is responsible
The apps are published by Idunblue AB, which is the data controller for the personal data described here:
Idunblue AB
Company registration no.: 559595-9791
Överälve, 827 93 Ljusdal, Sweden
Email: [email protected]
2. The short version
- Your audio, images, videos and projects are processed on your Mac or iPhone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to publish or send something to Idun Blue, ask IdunPod or IdunDesign for a text suggestion from Idun AI, or, in IdunDesign, save a design while signed in with Idun Blue.
- You can use the apps without an account. Signing in with Idun Blue is optional.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and we never sell data.
- The microphone is used only for recording. IdunVoice and IdunDesign do not use it at all.
3. Audio, images, video and projects stay on your device
Recording, editing, noise reduction, mastering, transcription and captions all run locally on your Mac or iPhone. Your recordings, images, videos, transcripts, project files, settings and any free trial status are stored on your device and are not sent to us or anyone else, except when you use one of the features in section 5 yourself.
4. Sign in with Idun Blue (optional)
If you sign in, you do it on Idun Blue's sign-in page, in your web browser or the system's sign-in window; the app never sees your password. The app then receives your name, email address and workspace, together with sign-in tokens and a signed licence. These are stored in the Keychain on your Mac or iPhone.
- While you are signed in, the app checks your licence with
api.idun.blue: IdunVoice, IdunPod, IdunWave and IdunDesign when they start, and IdunVoice, IdunWave and IdunDesign also about once a day while open. IdunCut checks when you sign in and when you open Send to Idun Blue after an export. The check sends only your sign-in token. It tells us that your account used the app at that time. - The licence lets the app keep working offline for up to 30 days between checks.
- Signing out removes your name, email address, workspace, tokens and licence from your device, and asks Idun Blue to revoke the sign-in.
Your Idun Blue account itself is handled under the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
5. What each app does
IdunVoice
IdunVoice cleans up recordings you open. The speech model is included in the app, so nothing is downloaded and no audio leaves your Mac. IdunVoice does not use the microphone.
IdunPod
- Transcription runs on your Mac. The speech-to-text model, and the model that tells speakers apart, are downloaded once from
huggingface.cothe first time they are needed and saved on your Mac. The download request contains no audio and no information about you; like any web request, Hugging Face sees your IP address. No audio is sent anywhere for transcription. - Publishing happens only when you choose to publish an episode, or save it as a draft, in your Idun Blue workspace. IdunPod then uploads the episode audio, title, description and show notes, the transcript if there is one, and the season and episode number. They are stored in your own workspace, handled under the Idun Blue Privacy Policy and published according to your podcast settings. The show's artwork is managed in Idun Blue, not uploaded by the app.
- Write with AI sends the episode's transcript and working title to Idun Blue, which drafts a title and show notes with Idun AI. The audio is not sent. How Idun AI processes text is described in the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
- If a recording includes other people, such as guests on a call, the transcript contains their words too. Publish or send it only if they have agreed.
- The microphone is used for recording. While the record screen is open, IdunPod also shows a live input level; nothing is saved until you press Record. When you record a call, IdunPod also records the call's sound from your Mac, and only during that recording.
IdunWave
- Recording, editing, noise reduction and transcription run on your Mac. IdunWave has no upload or publishing feature.
- The first time you use a speech model for transcription, IdunWave downloads it from
huggingface.coand saves it on your Mac. The request contains no audio and no information about you; like any web request, Hugging Face sees your IP address. - The microphone is used only while you record.
IdunDesign
- Designing and editing happen on your Mac or iPhone. Designs, templates, brand profiles and the media library are stored on your device, and background removal uses Apple's image analysis on the device. You can create, edit, save and share without an account or a connection.
- Sync: when you are signed in with Idun Blue and have chosen a workspace, the design, with the images in it, is sent there when you save it with Save, so you can carry on with it on another device. The automatic saving on your device sends nothing. Photos and videos in the media library are uploaded only when you choose to sync them.
- Send to Idun Blue uploads the post's pages as images or as a video, the cover, and what you wrote for the post: caption, hashtags, alt text, first comment and the usernames of any collaborators. They are stored in your own workspace and handled under the Idun Blue Privacy Policy. A draft stays private; a post is published or scheduled only once you approve it, and Idun Blue then publishes it to the account you chose. The app never contacts Instagram itself.
- Suggest caption sends the design's title, the text on its pages and the caption you have written to Idun Blue, which drafts a suggestion with Idun AI. The images are not sent, and the suggestion is used only if you choose it.
- While you are signed in, the app fetches your workspaces, the social accounts connected to them and your posts from IdunDesign from Idun Blue, so you can choose where a post goes and follow it.
- The AI connection on the Mac (MCP) is off until you turn it on. It listens only on
127.0.0.1, so that an AI app you have installed yourself on the same Mac, such as Claude, Codex or Cursor, can work in the open design. Nothing reaches Idunblue AB through it; what the AI app does with what it reads is governed by that app's own terms. IdunDesign has no AI model of its own, and publishing through the AI needs the same approval as in the app. - The app reads only the photos and files you pick or drop in yourself, and Add to Photos only adds your finished images to Photos. On iPhone you can also take a new photo with the camera from the picker.
IdunCut
- Editing, analysis and captions happen on your Mac or iPhone. The app reads your footage with Apple's sound and image analysis on the device, and captions are made either with Apple's speech recognition, which IdunCut only lets run on the device, or with a speech model on the device. No audio is sent anywhere for transcription. Importing, editing and export work without an account or a connection.
- The speech model is downloaded once from
huggingface.coand saved on your device: on the Mac once you have said yes, on iPhone in the background after your first import. The download contains no audio and no information about you; like any web request, Hugging Face sees your IP address. - Send to Idun Blue is on the Mac only and is used only when you choose it after an export. IdunCut then uploads the finished video, with its file name, size, length and dimensions, and what you type in the window: a title and text for a social draft, the lesson title or the attachment's name. The video lands as a draft in your workspace, as a social draft, a new unpublished course lesson or an attachment to an unpublished lesson; IdunCut publishes nothing. If you leave Create transcript in Idun Blue on for a lesson, the video is transcribed in Idun Blue. All of it is handled under the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
- On iPhone, IdunCut has no sign-in and sends nothing to Idun Blue.
- The AI connection on the Mac (MCP) is off until you allow it. It listens only on
127.0.0.1and accepts only calls that carry a key kept on your Mac, so that an AI app you have installed yourself, such as Claude, can edit the open video. Nothing reaches Idunblue AB through it; what the AI app does with what it reads is governed by that app's own terms. - If other people are seen or heard in a video, the captions contain their words too. Pass it on only if they have agreed.
- The microphone is used only when you record a voiceover. On iPhone, IdunCut takes clips from Photos and saves finished videos there when you ask it to.
6. Updates
The versions downloaded from Idun Blue check for updates with api.idun.blue shortly after launch and every few hours. The check sends the app's name, version, platform (macOS) and processor type. It contains no account or personal information, although our servers see your IP address and standard request headers, as with any web request. Updates are downloaded from Idun Blue's servers and verified before they are installed. IdunCut does not check for updates.
App Store versions do not check with us for updates; Apple updates them through the App Store.
7. Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions in the App Store are handled by Apple. Idunblue AB does not receive your payment details; the app learns only whether a purchase is active. If you pay for Idun Blue, that payment is covered by the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
8. What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting services. The audio apps' crash details, if any, stay in a log file on your Mac.
- We never sell or rent personal data.
9. Legal basis and retention
We process sign-in and licence data to provide the app you have chosen to use (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Update checks are processed under our legitimate interest in delivering secure updates (Art. 6(1)(f)). Data on your Mac or iPhone stays until you delete it or remove the app. Data in your Idun Blue account and workspace is kept as described in the Idun Blue Privacy Policy.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and move your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time. Most of the data described here lives on your own Mac or iPhone, and you can remove it by signing out or deleting the app. For data held by Idun Blue, see the Idun Blue Privacy Policy or email [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
You can also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).
11. Changes
If an app starts handling data in a new way, we update this page first. The date at the top shows the latest version.
